Director, Enterprise Applications - Workday
The Director of Enterprise Applications leads the strategy, delivery, and performance of RaceTrac’s enterprise application ecosystem. This role ensures that more than 400 applications—including Workday, ServiceNow, Salesforce, construction and engineering systems, and other corporate platforms—are reliable, scalable, cost‑effective, and aligned with business goals. You’ll partner closely with business owners and IT leaders, guide a team of managers and technical professionals, and shape the future of RaceTrac’s digital capabilities.
This role is based in Atlanta, GA with some hybrid flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the enterprise applications strategy for assigned business units, ensuring systems meet organizational needs and support long‑term growth.
- Lead the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of enterprise applications across the organization.
- Serve as the primary liaison between business owners and IT, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and shared outcomes.
- Oversee application roadmaps, licensing, vendor relationships, and total cost of ownership.
- Introduce new technologies—including AI‑driven capabilities—that enhance efficiency, decision‑making, and operational excellence.
- Drive process improvements that simplify work for team members and elevate the guest experience.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to strengthen RaceTrac’s competitive advantage.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of four managers and their respective teams; build a strong leadership pipeline and succession plans.
- Manage strategic, cross‑functional projects that streamline processes and improve enterprise‑wide efficiency.
- Ensure all initiatives and decisions align with RaceTrac’s strategic vision, Core Values, Leadership Qualities, and The RaceTrac Way.
- Act as the escalation point for critical Corporate Applications issues.
Success Measures (First 6–12 Months)
- Establish strong relationships with business owners, IT leadership, and C‑level partners.
- Assess the current application portfolio and deliver a clear, actionable roadmap for modernization and optimization.
- Strengthen team performance through coaching, clarity, and improved operating rhythms.
- Improve communication flow between IT and business units, ensuring transparency and alignment.
- Deliver early wins in process improvement, system stability, or cost optimization.
- Demonstrate forward‑thinking leadership by identifying opportunities for AI, automation, and scalable enterprise solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 7+ years of related experience, ideally in retail, convenience, or similarly complex environments.
- 5+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role overseeing multiple functional areas.
- Proven ability to lead enterprise application portfolios, including large platforms such as Workday, ServiceNow, Salesforce, SAP, or similar systems.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with C‑level executives.
- Experience supporting M&A activities from a systems and integration perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to evolving business needs.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in organizations known for operational excellence.
- Background supporting HR, construction, engineering, or corporate services applications.
- Familiarity with AI‑driven tools and how they integrate into enterprise ecosystems.
- Strong executive presence with excellent presentation and influencing capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
