Senior AI User Experience Designer (Contract)

Location: Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid – 2 days onsite / 3 days remote)

Contract Length: 1+ year

We’re seeking a Senior AI User Experience Designer to help define how artificial intelligence is translated into clear, trustworthy, and human-centered user experiences. This role blends strategic thinking and hands-on design, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Research to design AI-powered experiences that support data-driven decision-making.

What you’ll do

• Design intuitive human + AI interactions that prioritize transparency, clarity, and user control
• Create data visualizations and information architectures that communicate complex AI insights effectively
• Lead discovery and research efforts to identify user needs related to data interpretation and decision-making
• Translate complex technical outputs into meaningful, usable experiences through close collaboration with engineers and data scientists
• Extend and contribute to design systems by adding new AI and data visualization patterns
• Advocate for ethical, inclusive, and responsible AI design practices

Required experience

• 7+ years in UX or Product Design, including senior- or lead-level experience
• Strong background designing AI-powered, analytics, or data-rich products
• Expertise in Figma, interaction design, and rapid prototyping
• Experience conducting user research and synthesizing insights into design decisions
• Ability to work closely with technical teams and understand data models, machine learning outputs, and predictive interfaces
• Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process with strong examples of data visualization or AI interactions
