Job Description
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) functions as a highly trained, field-based scientific expert who engages healthcare professionals to exchange clinical, scientific, and research knowledge. Following regulatory and corporate guidelines, they facilitate and build scientific relationships and collaborations with the medical/scientific community. The MSL interacts with local, regional, and national HCPs, societies, and organizations to provide educational, scientific, and research support for the Sobi rare disease portfolio in the rheumatology franchise. This is a remote position and requires up to 70% travel. The candidate must reside within the territory: Long Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact appropriately with key thought leaders and healthcare professionals
- Exchange scientific information with external parties in an accurate, fair, and balanced manner
- Report field intelligence to Sobi, including competitive information, perspectives about compounds, disease state, and the treatment landscape
- Provide support to the Sobi clinical development and operations teams through site recommendations, site initiation visits, facilitation of communication, and accrual support activities
- Participate in and/or lead advisory board meetings at local, regional, and national levels
- Provide internal and external training about preclinical science, clinical data, and outcomes
- Represent Sobi at medical conferences, engaging HCPs and providing scientific coverage
- Provide cross-functional support across the company as a scientific resource
- Develop and maintain an advanced level of knowledge about pertinent studies, compounds, and diseases to facilitate discussions with rheumatology and nephrology thought leaders
- Demonstrate a high standard of excellence in territory management and support the success of colleagues and the MSL organization
- Frequent travel by ground and/or air is required; estimated ≥ 70% time away from the remote office
- Serve as the primary field contact in Medical Affairs - Rheumatology
Qualifications
- Accredited doctorate degree in a life-science or basic-science discipline (PharmD, PhD, MD/DO, DSc, DNP)
- Ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific information; respond to inquiries and address needs of key stakeholders
- Proven ability to manage internal/external stakeholders and lead or influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
- Track record of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Strong written and oral communication skills to articulate a clear strategy
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to initiate and maintain relationships throughout the medical community
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with cross-functional team members
- High level of personal integrity, emotional intelligence, and flexibility
- Understanding of the regulated bio-pharma industry, including legal and regulatory environment
- Minimum of 2 years of MSL experience preferred
- Experience in relevant clinical practice, disease state knowledge, and rare diseases preferred

Compensation and Benefits
At Sobi, we provide a comprehensive and industry-competitive total rewards package. The base salary range for this role is $148,800 – $200,000 . The offer is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location, and may include short-term and long-term bonuses. Benefits include a robust suite of health benefits and other rewards.
