Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management

Overview

The University of Minnesota invites nominations and applications for the inaugural Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management (VPSEM) position. This role will shape and advance a systemwide enrollment strategy that strengthens collaboration across the University’s five campuses (Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, and Twin Cities) and plays a pivotal role in realizing the vision of one university on five campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the principal driver of an integrated, forward‑looking enrollment enterprise supporting the University’s mission, academic excellence, and long‑term vitality.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive enrollment vision spanning recruitment, admissions, financial aid, and market expansion.
  • Align goals, policies, processes, and technologies with campus enrollment leaders to strengthen the prospective‑student experience and expand market reach.
  • Enhance the use of analytics and CRM tools to support students in finding the right fit across the system.
  • Cultivate relationships and trust with faculty, staff, administrators, and governance groups across all campuses.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and mutual accountability, and guide cultural and operational change with clarity and steadiness.

Qualifications

  • Seasoned, strategic, and relational enrollment leader with experience in large, decentralized or multi‑campus environments.
  • Expertise in data, analytics, and enrollment technologies.
  • Strong commitment to student access, success, and equity.
  • Exceptional communication skills and political and cultural acumen.
  • Ability to unify diverse stakeholders around a shared vision while respecting local identity and institutional history.

Compensation

The University of Minnesota estimates the salary range for this position at $330,000 to $360,000. The University also offers a comprehensive suite of medical, retirement, and other benefits, which are described on the University’s Human Resources web site.
