
Supply Chain Director

The Supply Chain Director develops end‑to‑end supply chain strategy, execution, and performance across a global portfolio. This role ensures reliable product availability, optimized manufacturing and logistics costs, operational excellence, and strong cross‑functional alignment with Commercial, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance. The Director will drive continuous improvement, digital enablement, and long‑range supply chain planning to support business growth, customer commitments, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute the global supply chain strategy for the business, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, market dynamics, and long‑term capacity plans.
- Lead and mentor a multi‑disciplinary team across planning, logistics, S&OP, and supply chain analytics.
- Own the S&OP process, ensuring accurate demand forecasting, capacity alignment, and scenario planning.
- Partner with leaders to translate market trends, customer forecasts, and new product introductions into clear supply plans.
- Facilitate executive S&OP reviews and drive decisions that balance service, cost, and working capital.
Supply Planning & Manufacturing Coordination
- Oversee global supply planning, ensuring optimal production schedules
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering to ensure capacity, maintenance, and production changes are fully reflected in supply plans.
- Maintain high service levels to strategic customers.
- Set and manage logistics strategies for raw materials, intermediates, and finished materials across global regions.
- Optimize freight, warehousing, and distribution networks for cost, service, and sustainability performance.
- Enhance order fulfillment processes to improve on‑time delivery, customer experience, and responsiveness.
Inventory & Working Capital Optimization
- Establish inventory policies and stocking strategies to balance service with working capital targets.
- Drive improvements in inventory accuracy, aging inventory management, and safety stock modeling.
Procurement & Raw Material Assurance
- Collaborate with Procurement to secure critical raw materials, manage supply risks, and support strategic supplier relationships.
- Provide long‑range demand projections for key commodities and specialty chemicals.
Process Improvement
- Champion supply chain digitization initiatives, including advanced planning systems, analytics dashboards, automation, and predictive forecasting tools.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma) to enhance reliability, reduce cost, and increase agility.
- Identify and mitigate supply disruptions, geopolitical risks, and regulatory or environmental impacts.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, chemical handling standards, and corporate HSE policies.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field required.
- Master’s degree (MBA or related discipline) preferred.
Experience
- 10–15+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience, ideally within specialty chemicals, or advanced materials.
- Proven track record in S&OP, global logistics, and complex multi‑plant planning.
- Experience with hazardous materials, regulated products, and global trade compliance strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead high‑performing teams in a matrixed environment.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of supply chain planning systems (JDE, SAP, APO/IBP, OMP, Kinaxis, etc.).
- Strong analytical, scenario‑modeling, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior executives.
- Strategic thinker with operational rigor and a continuous improvement mindset.
