Director of Finance

Overview

A mission-focused organization is seeking a Director of Finance and Accounting to oversee all financial management and accounting operations. This senior leader will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s financial integrity, supporting development activity, and building scalable internal processes. This role requires a hands‑on financial leader who can manage day‑to‑day accounting while also overseeing planning, reporting, and operational infrastructure within a lean team environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting functions including general ledger management, month‑end close, reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements
• Oversee annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Monitor organizational liquidity and financial performance
• Prepare financial reporting for internal leadership and external stakeholders
• Manage audits, tax filings, and required financial documentation
• Oversee financial aspects of development projects including budgeting, funding coordination, and project‑level tracking
• Support capital activity including loan documentation, reporting, and financial oversight
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
• Oversee payroll coordination, accounts payable, vendor payments, and related operational finance functions
• Evaluate and improve financial systems, reporting tools, and workflow processes
• Supervise finance staff and/or external accounting partners
• Manage relationships with auditors, lenders, legal counsel, and other financial service providers
• Contribute to organizational planning and support operational decision‑making

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
• Demonstrated experience overseeing audits and complex financial reporting
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial/accounting systems
