Entry Level Welder/Helper
We are a small, growing machine shop in Ladson, SC, seeking a dependable helper to support daily production. This role is primarily responsible for assisting skilled fabricators and welders by preparing parts, maintaining material flow, and performing finishing and general shop duties. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and eager to learn fabrication and welding processes in a hands-on fabrication environment. Responsibilities Deburr, grind, sand, and finish fabricated sheet metal parts to meet quality and dimensional requirements Assist with material handling, including loading, unloading, staging, and moving raw materials and finished components throughout the shop Support welders and fabricators by holding, positioning, and preparing parts for welding and assembly Perform basic fabrication assistance tasks such as cutting, fitting, cleaning, and organizing components Operate hand and power tools such as grinders, sanders, drills, and measuring tools under supervision Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop safety standards Assist with inspection of parts for surface defects, sharp edges, or finish issues prior to final processing Follow work instructions, shop drawings, and supervisor direction to meet production schedules Perform general shop support duties as needed to keep workflow moving efficiently Work Environment Climate-controlled small job shop. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 4050 lbs as required, frequent use of hands for fine motor tasks, and the ability to wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection). Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ladson, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
