The Position The

Port of Portland

is hiring a

Performance & Analytics Intern !

Are you passionate about data analysis and customer research? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! As a Performance and Analytics Intern at the Port of Portland, you will work closely with our Performance & Analytics staff to lead research, analyze data, and provide actionable insights that drive our business forward.

Your role:

It's simple, ask questions and learn on the job! Primary assignment includes assisting with the design of survey questionnaires, data collection, analyzing data, visualizing, and presenting results.

To be considered for this intern position you must be a current student enrolled in an Oregon/Washington school for the duration of employment.

Spring 2026 graduates will not be eligible for this internship unless documentation of continued educational classes (graduate school documentation related to the field) can be provided at the time of application.

Duration: Expected sunset date on or around May 31, 2027, with full-time work during school breaks and part-time during the school year.

Compensation is determined by school year and experience. Essential Job Duties

Assist with administering the Portland International Airport (PDX) Passenger Survey Program, which includes support in the following areas:

Designing or editing passenger survey questionnaires. Developing sampling plans for recurring in-person and online survey data collection. Fielding or overseeing survey data collection. Reviewing and analyzing survey results. Developing reporting products to share survey results - including data visualizations and written reports - and presenting them to internal Port audiences. Developing and testing new innovative & efficient approaches to data collection and results analysis.

Assist with Business Intelligence (BI) solution development, including dashboard visualizations. Support Performance & Analytics staff in other projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Currently enrolled in an accredited Oregon/Washington college or university and seeking a degree in Statistics, Data Science, Planning, Public Policy or related field. Graduate students desired. Student must also provide current unofficial transcript at time of application. Maintenance of a minimum 2.5 grade point average and continued enrollment in classes pertinent to the internship is required. Must successfully pass and maintain clearance of a comprehensive Criminal History Records Check and a Security Threat Assessment for a PDX Security Badge, are required. Demonstrated Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrate commitment to valuing differences among individuals and a passion for being inclusive. Focus on safety improvements, and comply with safety and health policies and procedures. Show the utmost respect for others and act as a team player. Quantitative research methods. Understanding of statistics. Use spreadsheets and other software for quantitative analysis. Microsoft computer applications. Organization, time management, and attention to detail. Writing skills to support development of written reports and case studies.

Supplemental and Selection Information SELECTION PROCESS

(tentative schedule) : A minimum qualification evaluation of education, training, and experience of submitted application packets will take place by Human Resources the week of April 6, 2026. A Subject Matter Expert (SME) Panel will perform an evaluation of experience and training taken from your employment application materials including any responses to the supplemental questionnaire. Our goal is to schedule panel interviews with candidates that successfully passed the SME evaluation week of April 20, 2026. The successful candidate will be notified after interviews are complete, with a tentative start date in June 2026.
