POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Camp Director is responsible for the overall supervision and leadership of operations of the camp. The Director is responsible for facility management, supervision of staff, and oversight of camp activities. The position is responsible for demonstrating YMCA leadership competencies to ensure the mission, purpose, image and core values of the Plattsburgh/Malone YMCA are conveyed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervision and support the continued development of camp staff.
Relate to people in a positive but firm manner while motivating and guiding campers and staff to succeed in camp programs.
Maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, and campers
Acts as a liaison between parents and program staff regarding parent or participant concerns and works as the key leader to assure a safe, fun and quality environment is provided in all areas.
Provide a safe environment for campers and staff
Follow established health and safety standards of the YMCA, and Dept. of Public Health.
Take and maintain attendance throughout the day.
Maintains administrative records as required
Submit all required paperwork on time.
Assist and support staff when needed.
Possess a broad knowledge of camp activities, goals and objectives, risk management, programming planning and implementation techniques that help to create a fun, safe, and educational environment
Possess mature judgement and sound decision making.
Actively participate in staff training, meetings, etc.
Demonstrate/teach the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility with all campers and staff.
Follow all camp rules, regulations and policies and enforce them with staff.
Implements program initiatives that identify safety, quality, and customer service as top priorities.
Capable to respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR.
React calmly and quickly in an emergency situation in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 21 years of age or older
Two or more years working with children, preferably in a day camp setting
Summer Availability from end of June - Mid August
Desire and ability to work in a camp setting
Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable
Must be highly organized with the ability to support camp staff
Positive attitude and ability to lead a cohesive team
Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications (will be provided if needed)
