Underwriting Account Executive

Contractors of all types and sizes rely on workers’ compensation to protect their employees in the instance of accident and injury. For the past 40 years, the Kentucky AGC Self Insurers’ Fund has provided stable workers’ compensation coverage to members. Formed in 1979 by contractors in need of worker’s compensation, the Fund has grown remarkably over its history and continues to add members through trade association memberships every year.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical underwriter to join our existing underwriting team. This role will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new prospects, underwriting new business accounts and maintaining relationships with existing members and agents. Success in the role requires strong analytical skills, sound underwriting acumen and be independently motivated.
Key Responsibilities
Review new business accounts including financials, operations, risk profiling in accordance with established underwriting guidelines.
Maintain existing accounts through active management and effective account servicing.
Develop and execute growth strategies through in-person meetings and member engagement
Partner with agents and brokers in the territory to drive new business growth.
Maintain a strong and organized pipeline to meet growth objectives
Collaborate with Risk Control to assess risks on new and existing accounts
Represent the Fund at local and regional conferences and industry events
The ideal candidate will have
Minimum of 3–4 years of commercial underwriting experience
Working knowledge of workers’ compensation class codes
Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Technical knowledge of risk profiling
Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of experience modification calculation
Proven relationships with established agencies
