
Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, Iowa Initiatives

We are seeking a motivated and creative Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, Iowa Initiatives to develop and manage engaging experiences in the state of Iowa for our University of Iowa Alumni and Friends. This role involves creating and implementing in‑person events, programs, and communications to enhance engagement, build relationships, and foster a sense of connection among participants.
Hybrid Work:
This position is eligible for hybrid work (telecommuting) which includes working on‑site at our office in Iowa City at least 2‑3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning and Execution: Design and execute strategic, statewide engagement events across Iowa to strengthen the University’s presence statewide, such as Hawkeyes at the Orchard and RAGBRAI.
Plan programs that reflect the unique needs, interests, and demographics of Iowa‑based alumni, ensuring events are relevant for diverse regions, age groups, and professional sectors.
Coordinate all event logistics—venue selection, event flow, speaker briefings, catering, AV needs, budget tracking, on‑site management, and post‑event follow‑up—to ensure polished and consistent execution that reflects the University’s brand and standards.
Campus and Community Engagement: Build and leverage relationships with campus and community partners to identify venues, co‑host opportunities, and shared programming that increases the University’s visibility and builds goodwill in key Iowa markets.
Implement strategies to increase participation and engagement within Iowa communities.
Reporting and Analysis: Use alumni data and engagement analytics to prioritize event locations and identify target audiences.
Track and analyze engagement metrics to assess the effectiveness of Iowa programs and initiatives.
Prepare reports and provide insights on engagement trends, participant feedback, and areas for improvement.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, communications, and program managers, to align Iowa engagement efforts with organizational goals.
Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to enhance Iowa event offerings.
Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree + 1 year of related experience required, preferably in alumni engagement, development, higher education or related field.
