
Territory Sales Manager – Mid-Atlantic

D&D Commodities, a business unit of Central Garden & Pet, is a leading manufacturer of premium nutritional products for caged birds, small animals, wild birds, and wildlife. We are seeking a results-driven Territory Sales Manager
to drive sales growth and strengthen customer relationships across the Mid-Atlantic region.
This role is responsible for managing distributor and retail relationships, expanding market share, and driving revenue growth across multiple sales channels. The Territory Sales Manager will work closely with sales leadership, marketing teams, and distributor partners to implement strategic sales initiatives, analyze market opportunities, and identify new business growth throughout the territory.
Territory:
Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Western Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland
Preferred Residence Location:
Candidates should reside within the
Mid-Atlantic corridor encompassing Charlottesville, VA; Northern Virginia (Manassas area); and Frederick, MD , or within reasonable driving distance of this region to support frequent customer visits throughout the territory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and execute territory sales strategies to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
Manage and grow relationships with distributors, retailers, and key accounts within the assigned territory.
Identify and secure new business opportunities to expand the company’s market presence.
Partner with distributor sales teams to drive product awareness, merchandising, and promotional initiatives.
Analyze sales data, customer performance, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities.
Conduct regular customer visits, joint sales calls, product demonstrations, and training sessions.
Forecast territory sales performance and provide accurate reporting to sales leadership.
Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and regional meetings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills.
Demonstrated success driving sales growth in distributor and retail sales channels.
Excellent organizational, planning, and territory management skills.
Ability to analyze sales data and market trends to inform strategic decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems.
Ability to travel frequently within the territory and maintain a valid driver’s license.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or related field preferred.
3–5+ years of experience in consumer-packaged goods, retail, or distributor-based sales.
Experience managing distributor relationships and developing territory growth strategies.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Field travel conditions include frequent car travel with occasional airline travel and hotel accommodations; much of the work is performed in customer retail store environments.
Work will typically occur during regular customer business hours, with occasional weekend work as needed.
Territory Sales Managers may be required to intermittently lift 30–50 pounds of Central products, display materials, or trade show equipment.

POSITION INFORMATION
The base salary range for this position is $60,000 – $70,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
This role is eligible for an annual performance-based incentive / growth bonus, providing additional earning potential based on individual and territory performance.
Customary business expenses are reimbursed.
