
Service Sales Manager

As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the full sales cycle of customer acquisition and growth for MarathonLS. This position will be put a significant focus on prospecting new business but will also execute follow up and in-person sales pitches to close business. This position will be expected to spend time out in the local marketplace on customer pitches, prospecting, and building relationships. The Sales Manager position will play an important role in representing our brand, product and company and your work will have a direct impact on the company’s growth. This position is based on site in Norwood, MA and will report directly to the CEO.
Responsibilities
Generate new business opportunities among biotech, pharmaceutical and clinical industries that fit our target customer profile.
Possess a strong understanding of MarathonLS’ service portfolio, target markets, competition and positioning.
Develop and execute strategies to grow service revenue, including preventative maintenance agreements, repairs, upgrades, and parts sales.
Identify opportunities to expand service offerings with existing customers.
Responsible to manage and grow service contract and maintenance agreement programs.
Successfully manage and overcome prospects’ objections and rejections.
Responsible for confirming and executing in person local customer sales calls.
Generate sales proposals and follow up to ensure sales are closed thoroughly and efficiently.
Deliver prompt, clear, and customer‑focused responses by identifying customer needs and providing solutions, while maintaining high standards for responsiveness, timeliness, and follow‑through.
Maintain accurate records in NetSuite CRM.
Develop, maintain, and regularly update sales activities, pipeline reporting, and all related sales data to ensure accurate forecasting and visibility into performance.
Develop monthly KPI targets for team including: prospecting calls and client appointments, while noting activities in CRM.
Responsible for weekly sales meetings.
Work closely with the marketing team to plan and schedule events and tradeshows, tracking performance metrics and ROI to optimize future marketing and sales initiatives.
Responsible for attending networking and trade show events. Will be required to participate in speaking engagements and demonstrations as necessary.
Continually expand your knowledge of market trends and customer needs.
Personnel management: Completing performance reviews, offering strategies for improving employee performance, holding staff accountable by having critical conversations with appropriate documentation.
Provide onboarding training for new staff as well as conducting ongoing sales‑related training to service team as necessary.
Perform other related duties as required.
The Ideal Candidate
5+ years of sales experience in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or a related life sciences field.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational and computer skills.
High attention to detail, with a process and solution‑oriented mindset.
Polished and professional demeanor.
You understand the significance of a customer‑centric mindset and of exceeding customer expectations.
Solid understanding of tactical sales skills (prospecting, qualifying, closing, and growing existing customers) strongly preferred.
Must be a highly driven and self‑starting individual with the ability to stay motivated in the face of rejection.
Demonstrated record of meeting and exceeding your performance targets.
Must be open to receiving feedback and implementing it and feel comfortable in a coaching and mentoring environment.
Ability to thrive in a startup environment.
