The

Research Director

at Nashville CARES will manage all research activities related to the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Grant. This role is responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and execution of the research project, ensuring compliance with PCORI guidelines and timelines. The Director will work closely with Principal and Co‑Investigators, interdisciplinary teams, including clinicians, data analysts, and community stakeholders, to advance patient‑centered outcomes research that improves health care practices and policies across eight regions in the Southern United States.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership: Lead the development, execution, and management of the PCORI‑funded research project. Ensure that all project activities align with the grant's goals, objectives, and timelines.

Team Management: Supervise research staff, including data analysts, research assistants, and other project personnel. Provide mentorship and guidance to ensure high‑quality work and professional development.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with community partners, patient advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to ensure the research remains patient‑centered and aligns with community needs.

Data Management: Oversee the collection, management, and analysis of research data. Ensure that data collection methods meet rigorous scientific standards and adhere to PCORI guidelines.

Grant Compliance: Ensure compliance with all PCORI grant requirements, including reporting, budget management, and adherence to ethical standards in research.

Dissemination: Lead efforts to disseminate research findings through publications, presentations, and reports. Work with the communication team to ensure findings are accessible to both academic and lay audiences.

Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for improving research processes and outcomes. Stay informed about advancements in patient‑centered outcomes research and incorporate best practices into the project.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

D. or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Services Research).

At least 5‑7 years of experience in health‑related research, with a strong background in managing large, multi‑site research projects. Experience with PCORI grants is highly preferred.

Proven leadership and project management skills.

Strong analytical and statistical skills, including experience with relevant software (e.g., SAS, R, SPSS).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Commitment to ethical research practices and patient‑centered outcomes.
