
Director of Retail

SUMMARY:
The Vienna Coffee Company Director of Retail is a full-time, onsite position responsible for managing all VCC coffee house endeavors. The Director of Retail will create and implement systems, management structures and aid in the creation and setup of new spaces. The DOR will play a part in strategy for growth and sustainability and be a connector for the café spaces and other departments within Vienna Coffee Company.
The Director of Retail will be the voice for the coffee house initiatives and needs, working alongside the team of directors and the COO. Aiding to integrate the Vienna Coffee Company vision within the public spaces, ensure a safe and effective working environment for our team, and advocate for quality and consistency of our product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership
Supervise and direct all coffee house team members
Prioritize projects, delegate responsibilities and possess effective problem solving/decision making abilities
Design and ensure implementation of specific performance objectives
Coach and counsel team members for improved performance
Lead team meetings as necessary to ensure a cohesive work environment
Create initiatives to support the mission, vision, values of Vienna Coffee Company
Facilitate VCC product knowledge and commitment to the company
Store Operations
Manage systems for clean, organized, well stocked cafes
Maintain ServSafe Certification
Adhere to health and safety codes, developing best practices for preparation and storage
Budgeting/Finance
Drive to achieve targeted sales goals
Monthly inventory practices of goods
Track COGs and keep shops within budget
Create system for monitoring of daily cash deposits
Manage and direct POS functions for the team. Train and develop effective ways of using the system (currently Toast)
Employee Management
Monitor labor costs to keep within budget while maintaining customer service standards
Identify staffing needs, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates
Lead performance review initiatives and conduct employee disciplinary measures
Develop employee engagement and recognition initiatives
Direct internal employee communication channels
Partner with education team on training initiatives and support
Proactively participate in continued education to master understanding of VCC coffee offerings, tea products, and menu items
Marketing
Partner with marketing team on combined VCC initiatives
Plan and execute sales promotions effectively and efficiently, partnering with internal VCC teams
Maintains a clean, well-merchandised coffee house, following brand standards and visual communication guidelines
Quality Assurance
Ensures that all company drink/food recipes and procedures are followed
Participate in regular tastings of products for quality and consistency
Customer Service
Responsible for assuring all team member prioritize excellent customer service
Address customer complaints and provide resolutions
Engage in prompt communication with customers via email and by answering phone calls and voicemail messages.
