Summary
Develop technical illustrations, 2D/3D animations, and interactive media for engineering and training support
Analyze source data, including engineering drawings, schematics, technical manuals, photos, and SME input, to produce accurate visuals
Apply and maintain established illustration standards, templates, style guides, and version control conventions
Maintain and catalog multimedia assets in designated repositories for accessibility, reuse, and configuration management compliance
Conduct quality checks on multimedia deliverables (accuracy, resolution, format, interactivity, accessibility)Collaborate with technical writers, engineers, training developers, and configuration management teams
Research new tools, techniques, and industry best practices to recommend workflow and toolset improvements
Provide guidance to junior designers on routine tasks to ensure consistent output quality
Support compliance reviews to ensure media meets technical standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
SECRET CLEARANCE (Not Required to Start)
2+ years of professional experience producing technical illustrations, animations, or interactive media
2+ years of experience supporting aircraft maintenance and/or modifications
2+ years interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for accurate visuals
Proficient with graphic art tools (or equivalent to industry-standard tools like BOGART)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to independently address moderate-scope technical issues
Effective verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Ability to organize and manage multiple assets and tasks to meet project milestones
Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
Preferred Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Technical Illustration, or related field — or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience supporting aerospace, defense, or complex engineering products
Familiarity with aerospace technical illustration standards (e.g., S1000D, ATA iSpec 2200, or proprietary formats)
Experience with 3D CAD model viewers and converting CAD data into illustration/animation assets
Knowledge of scripting (Python, JavaScript) to automate asset production or batch processing
Certifications in relevant tools or accessibility/design standards
