MCS Health: Graduate Summer Public Relations Internship
SUMMARY
As an intern, you are an integral part of a team of hard‑working, talented individuals who serve as advisors to some of the world’s largest and most well‑known healthcare brands. Supervisors work closely with you as you support the team on a variety of account responsibilities.
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Media relations, research & monitoring
Develop media relations skills to achieve success for clients' media campaigns; activities may include some or all of the following:
Developing and maintaining media lists
Developing angles, pitches (e‑mail, letters) and media alerts
Record‑keeping/charting of contact and status
Ongoing research into consumer and professional media to develop leads and ideas for angles
Coordination with monitoring services
Searching for coverage; compiling coverage for media/clip reports
Gain efficiency and proficiency in all aspects of on‑line research and media monitoring to support teams in daily searching activities, capitalize on opportunities for clients, and to contribute to the agency's new business efforts
Implement an organized program of ongoing reviews of publications, newspapers and magazines and broadcast media
Alert colleagues to important news and facts
Develop skills in providing analysis and commentary to teammates about gathered information
Project management
Assist in coordinating the planning and execution of projects and client events, including press conferences, media briefings, dinners, meetings, conference calls, etc.; remain mindful of applying:
Detailed checklists
Timeline management
Open communication and follow‑through with other team members
Serve as account team historian/record‑keeper by maintaining accurate records of client activities, meetings/conference calls, important memos and documentation, e.g., clinical studies, relevant articles
Assist in development and execution of ongoing agency publicity aimed at enhancing the agency image among prospective clients, including:
Management of agency social channels
Identification of potential traditional and social opportunities

Internship Program:
A hands‑on opportunity to gain real‑world experience in healthcare public relations, working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful client work.
Hybrid Work Environment:
We typically come together in the office at least once a month to connect and celebrate team successes, while offering flexible remote work the rest of the time.
Professional Development & Training:
Interns will participate in both remote and in‑person meetings, gaining exposure to agency work while developing key communications and healthcare PR skills.
Mentorship & Team Support:
Throughout the internship, you’ll receive guidance and support from senior leaders and colleagues, providing valuable mentorship and insight into the industry
QUALIFICATIONS
Senior studying communication, public relations, journalism, or related field & Completed BS/BA degree by the start of the program.
Prior internship experience or coursework in the field of public relations, healthcare‑specific experience a plus
Proficiency in software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, etc. and use of social media
Meticulous attention to organization, word usage, sentence structure, grammar and punctuation, and conscientious incorporation of copy edits
