About DS Foundation Founded in 2003, The DS Foundation is a charitable family foundation committed to improving lives of underserved individuals and effecting positive change through social entrepreneurship and innovation. The foundation stewards millions of dollars each year, and is beginning to establish proprietary programming. Located in Detroit, the SEIC is a game-changing new initiative through which the DS Foundation aims to use technology to design solutions that start to address some of the world’s biggest problems.
Position Description The associate role will support the director through a range of strategic and operational responsibilities as the foundation designs and launches its initial programming in Detroit. Programming will be largely centered around collaborating with exceptional social entrepreneurs and their organizations. The associate will work closely with the director and other team members to research, design and execute this programming. DS Foundation requires rigorous use of data, processes and lean methodology to guide and inform its decision making.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the development of data-driven processes for rigorous, regular program evaluation, including collecting and analyzing data from stakeholders as we build out programming
Support the director and senior team members with strategic contributions and near flawless execution
Perform research to inform the board and team around market mapping and opportunity sets
Perform ongoing regular administrative and operational tasks to support the center
Qualifications Professional and Academic
3+ years work experience
Experience in consulting, nonprofit or business management programs, or social sector preferred
Desired Qualities
Commitment to and passion for the city of Detroit and an active interest in getting involved in the community
Outstanding listening skills, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit, strong in ethics and integrity and consistently solutions-oriented
Ability to work effectively with diverse concepts, individuals, and organizations; ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; possess a strong team spirit and ability to juggle both highly administrative and highly strategic tasks and responsibilities
Consistently resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and environments
Strong oral and written communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
