Position Overview We’re seeking a
Senior Interior Designer
with 15+ years of professional experience to lead complex design projects from concept through completion.
Responsibilities
Lead development and execution of complete interior design concepts, space planning strategies, and material selections across multiple project types.
Direct production of detailed drawings, diagrams, and presentation materials.
Oversee and ensure design continuity, technical quality, and project documentation through all phases.
Guide collaboration across internal teams and coordinate with consultants to realize design intent.
Structure and lead design reviews, client presentations, and team charrettes.
Manage project timelines, deliverables and budgets for operational excellence.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and support for junior and mid-level designers, fostering an innovative culture.
Requirements for Success
Proven ability to lead complex interior design projects independently from concept to completion in a dynamic studio environment.
Strategic design thinker mastering spatial planning, brand integration, storytelling and environmental design across diverse typologies.
Demonstrated leadership in conceptual development, project organization, technical delivery, and team oversight.
Manage multiple large‑scale projects simultaneously while ensuring alignment with timelines, budgets, and design excellence.
Leads high‑level client engagements, presents design vision persuasively, and facilitates strategic discussions.
Fosters trust with clients and stakeholders while directing interdisciplinary consultant teams.
Strong mentor and team leader dedicated to professional development.
Expert in freehand and digital sketching to communicate intent and drive decisions.
Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly.
Detail‑oriented and highly accountable, delivering quality in fast‑paced environments.
Advanced proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite and rendering techniques.
Committed to design excellence, innovation and collaborative leadership.
Essential Qualifications
Accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in interior design or interior architecture.
15+ years of professional interior design experience.
NCIDQ certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Successful track record leading projects in public assembly buildings such as sports venues, convention centers, community buildings and transportation facilities.
LEED, WELL, or other relevant credentials.
Additional Details
Travel may be required.
Compensation
Salary range: $95,000 - $105,000 annually, varying by skills, experience and education.
Populous offers competitive salary and bonus packages, and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, paid time off and continuing education benefits.
