Product Designer
Onetera, Los Angeles, CA, United States
Note: We ask all applicants to submit a short Loom video (5-10 minutes) as part of the application. Details are included at the bottom of this posting. Applications without a video will not be considered.
Company Description Onetera is building the AI-native platform powering the next generation of local government services.
Our mission is to redesign how communities interact with government agencies. We believe a world is possible where anyone is one conversation away from any local public sector service — with a level of personalization, accessibility, and proactiveness that has never existed before.
Role Description As a Product Designer at Onetera, you will design the end-to-end user experience for a new generation of AI-powered government services.
You will work on complex workflows spanning multiple stakeholders — including residents, administrators, and government staff — and help transform outdated public sector systems into intuitive, modern products.
We are looking for designers who enjoy working very closely with engineers and shipping quickly. This role requires strong product thinking, systems thinking, and comfort designing in fast-moving environments.
This is an on-site role located in Los Angeles, CA.
Qualifications
Experience designing end-to-end products with complex workflows
Strong experience with user research methods such as interviews, workshops, and usability testing
Ability to design for both mobile and desktop environments
Proficiency in Figma / FigJam
Experience working closely with engineers through implementation
Strong advocate for accessibility and high-quality UX
Experience contributing to product strategy and design systems
A portfolio demonstrating thoughtful product design work
Application Process Please record a short Loom video (5-10 minutes) answering the questions below and email the Loom link to recruiting@onetera.com.
Subject line:
Application – Product Designer – [Your Name]
In the video, please answer the following:
Show us a product or feature you designed and shipped. Walk us through the problem, the design decisions you made, and the final experience.
Tell us about a time you had to design and ship something quickly (days or weeks, not months). What tradeoffs did you make?
How technical are you when collaborating with engineers? For example: do you prototype in code, inspect implementation, or work directly with component systems?
What’s a problem space or technology trend you’re genuinely obsessed with right now, and why?
How would your last team describe the energy or dynamic you brought and can you give a specific example?
If possible, please share your screen and briefly walk us through the product or prototype.
We care more about how you think and how you build than polished presentation.
