TRIO Senior Academic Coach (Program Director)

This position directs the TRIO Program, as well as provides premier leadership to Academic Coaches in support of TRIO. Oversees efficient and effective operations of the TRIO, including Student Support Services (SSS) projects. Accountable for allocation of resources and program results. Supervises the delivery and evaluation of program services to ensure progress and compliance in the area of student recruitment, retention, and graduation of program participants. Serves as an advocate for first‑generation and low‑income students in various Cleveland State University (CSU) settings. Responsible for proposal and federal grant writing and reporting. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned. Job Summary

Assigns student caseloads to Academic Coaches and assesses difficult cases. Identifies appropriate measures to aid staff in student assistance. Analyzes and interprets reports on student degree progression and makes data‑informed decisions, delivers high‑quality supports, programs, and services, and addresses barriers that may prevent success. Presents at meetings, workshops, and other venues for internal and external stakeholders to disseminate and enhance Cleveland State University (CSU’s) retention strategies. Represents CSU at various recruitment events, meetings and serves on committees. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in student personnel services, adult learning & development, counseling, guidance, education or a related field of study. Five (5) years of progressive experience in higher education academic advising, graduation success coaching, or in a higher education student services area. Supervisor or leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree, preferably in student personnel services, adult learning & development, counseling, guidance, education or a related field of study. Experience in professional development related to academic advising and coaching. Experience working with student populations and experience in student recruitment efforts. Proficient in academic advising, coaching, and planning software. Experience working with integrated software systems as an end user. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Proficient in written and verbal communication skills, the ability to make effective presentations, have strong public speaking skills, develop, and drive change and effectively communicate change. Excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery. Possess a high degree of confidentiality to available information. Supports community through workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, problem solving, hiring, retention, facilitation, and decision‑making skills and competencies. Knowledge and ability to utilize social media network communications. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective team player, in addition to being highly organized, self‑directed, and forward‑thinking. Ability to motivate, coach and develop others. Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines and tackle emergencies and difficult situations. Ability to successfully perform general math calculations and have strong calculation skills. Able to provide and explain performance metrics. Ability to increase persistence, retention, and graduation rates. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint. Ability to work evenings and weekends as required. Special Instructions
