
Director of Finance

The Director of Finance is a key strategic leader responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the company, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, job cost management, and cash flow oversight. This role partners closely with operational leadership to drive financial performance, strengthen internal controls, support project execution, and guide long‑term growth initiatives. The Director of Finance will also lead the finance team, ensure compliance with GAAP, and support technology and process improvement across the organization.

Financial Leadership & Reporting
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes.
Prepare, review, and present monthly financial statements and operating reports to the Executive Team.
Manage revenue recognition processes, job cost reporting, and work‑in‑process (WIP) schedules.
Develop financial models to analyze business trends, forecasts, and long‑term planning assumptions.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting of the company income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and project financials.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
Lead preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts for all business units.
Conduct detailed variance analysis, margin analysis, job cost reviews, and profitability reporting.
Support operational leaders with job‑level and division‑level financial performance insights.
Evaluate financial impacts of capital investments, pricing decisions, and operational changes.
Operational Partnership
Work jointly with project management and operations teams to review job cost performance, forecast completion costs, and mitigate financial risks.
Provide financial support for project billing, subcontractor payments, and change order analysis.
Partner on ERP improvements, system integrations, and process automation initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
Establish performance goals, encourage continuous learning, and foster a culture of accountability.
Coordinate cross‑functional communication between finance, operations, HR, and executive leadership.
Strategic & Corporate Initiatives
Support mergers and acquisitions activities, including financial due diligence, integration, and reporting alignment.
Serve as key contributor in long‑term strategic planning and growth initiatives.
Manage financial aspects of new system implementation or upgrades (e.g., ERP migration).
QUALIFICATIONS include the following:
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, job cost accounting, and construction revenue recognition.
Demonstrated experience presenting financial results to executives and supporting multi‑division operations.
Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced Excel modeling.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and collaborate across departments.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to influence and negotiate.
Detail oriented with a goal of precision.
Ability to balance interpersonal skills supporting operations and customer service while meeting deadlines and processes.
Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines in a complete manner.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and ERP systems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required, Advanced degree or certification preferred.
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, ideally within construction, manufacturing, or project‑based industries.
