Job Summary We are seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist to support day‑to‑day import, export, and customs compliance activities for our U.S. operations. This hands‑on role involves executing trade compliance processes, coordinating with customs brokers and freight forwarders, and handling internal and customer‑facing trade documentation.
Responsibilities Trade Compliance Operations & Execution
Execute daily import and export compliance activities under the guidance of Global Trade Compliance Leadership.
Support import and export transactions including documentation review, shipment clearance support, and issue resolution.
Perform HS classification and country of origin determinations using established guidance and internal standards.
Support basic ECCN/EAR99 assessments and export control screening activities.
Review broker‑prepared EEI/ACE filings and customs entries for accuracy and completeness.
Support and manage duty drawback activities, coordinating with brokers, collecting data, and preparing documentation for drawback claims.
Broker & Freight Forwarder Coordination
Serve as a primary day‑to‑day contact for customs brokers and freight forwarders on transactional issues.
Coordinate with brokers to resolve shipment holds, documentation discrepancies, CF28/CF29 requests, and customs inquiries.
Track broker requests, responses, and timelines to ensure timely shipment clearance.
Escalate complex or high‑risk compliance issues to leadership.
Customer & Internal Stakeholder Support
Respond to customer and internal requests related to trade documentation and compliance inquiries (e.g., Certificates of Origin, TSCA statements, import/export confirmations).
Partner with Customer Service, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Operations teams to resolve trade compliance issues impacting shipments or customers.
Collaborate with global trade compliance colleagues to ensure alignment, consistency, and knowledge sharing across regions.
Provide clear, timely communication to internal stakeholders regarding shipment status and compliance requirements.
Documentation, Recordkeeping & Audit Support
Maintain accurate, organized, audit‑ready records for import/export transactions and broker filings.
Support internal and external trade compliance audits, including document collection and transaction sampling.
Assist with continuous improvement of trade compliance processes, templates, and tracking tools.
Systems & Data Support
Enter, maintain, and validate trade compliance data in SAP GTS, broker portals, and internal trackers.
Support data accuracy related to classifications, country of origin, and compliance documentation.
Assist with system updates, testing, and coordination with IT or external providers as needed.
Qualifications & Experience Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in trade compliance, customs, logistics, or import/export operations.
Experience working directly with customs brokers and freight forwarders.
Working knowledge of U.S. import/export processes and customs documentation.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities.
Strong communication skills and a customer‑service‑oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HS classification, country of origin determinations, and EEI/ACE filings.
Exposure to export controls (EAR/EAR99) and restricted party screening.
Familiarity with SAP GTS, SAP ERP, or other global trade management systems.
Experience in manufacturing, chemicals, composites, or other regulated industries.
Exposure to international shipments or global trade environments.
