Purpose of the Role
The Relationship Manager will support the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) in developing and managing relationships with Financial Institution clients and executing related banking transactions. The role is responsible for assisting in the origination, analysis, execution, and post-lending management of financial institution credit transactions (including FI lending and fund finance), while also supporting liability business development and relationship management activities. The position will work closely with internal stakeholders including Head Office, CMB domestic branches, and various internal and external partners to ensure efficient transaction execution, high-quality credit analysis and client service.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the team in the execution of financial institution asset transactions (e.g., FI lending, fund finance), including coordinating with internal departments and communicating with CMB Head Office as necessary to facilitate transaction approvals.
Conduct financial analysis on borrowers, perform credit ratings and analysis to relevant industry developments. Prepare credit analysis materials and reports such as credit memorandums, post-lending credit reviews, and other documentation required for credit underwriting, risk assessment, and portfolio management purposes.
Assist team members in FI liability business (e.g., FI deposits), including supporting account opening procedures, maintaining client account documentation, coordinating KYC and compliance requirements, and assisting in day‑to‑day account management activities.
Prepare industry research reports and market analysis, including monitoring market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape to support the CMB’s business development and risk management efforts.
Support the team in organizing and coordinating FI marketing events, client meetings, and relationship‑building activities to strengthen the branch’s engagement with financial institution clients.
Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the team and management.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting or a related field;
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in banking, financial services, or a related industry preferred.
Understanding of financial institution credit analysis and the credit approval process, with the ability to review financial statements and support credit documentation preparation.
Strong sense of responsibility and willingness to take on challenging tasks with a proactive and detail‑oriented work ethic.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese is required.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,000 and $110,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as work experience, skillset, education and other qualifications.
