Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 8 years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Deep knowledge and experience in core/system engineering services.

Experience in supervising others.

Position Summary The Assistant Director of System Engineering for the College of Engineering will oversee core systems and research systems, serve as primary storage administrator, build and deploy computers for faculty and students, ensure security compliance, install software packages, and supervise 2‑3 OIT Staff members.

Duties / Responsibilities

Core Systems Engineering Administration (25%)

Serve as Secondary Citrix Provisioning Services Administrator

Serve as Secondary Citrix NetScaler Administrator

Serve as Secondary Citrix Virtual Applications and Desktop Administrator

Serve as Secondary Network Administrator (switches, firewalls, VPNs)

Serve as Primary Core Linux and Windows Server Administrator

Serve as Primary Storage Administrator

Research Linux Systems Administration (25%)

Build and deploy new research Linux based computers.

Ensure all research Linux computers meet UGA security standards.

Install software packages requested by faculty and students.

Update and maintain research Linux computers.

Build and maintain Linux system images for client deployments.

Supervisory Duties (25%)

Manage System Engineering Services IT queues; review tickets daily and ensure quality control.

Conduct weekly team meetings.

Recruit, hire, train, and retain team members; coordinate with HR.

Ensure timely and accurate completion of team tasks.

Client Services (10%)

Prioritize requests, document status via RT ticketing system.

Provide technical assistance in person or via remote connection.

Manage and resolve Tier 3 support requests.

Special Projects (10%)

Lead special technology projects assigned by the Sr. Director of OIT.

Other Duties (5%)

Contribute to OIT operations within the College of Engineering.

Attend CENGR staff meetings and complete required employee trainings.
