The Staten Island Broadway YMCA is seeking an Aquatics Director who will provide leadership to the Aquatics Department at the branch. They will follow all YMCA and DOH aquatics standards to maintain safety for all aquatics programs in and around the swim area. The Aquatics Director will serve as a model to promote and demonstrate a professional demeanor (uniform and positive attitude) to other aquatics staff.

**Key Responsibilities:*** Know and understand all YMCA, State, and local Health and Safety requirements, including Pool Safety Plan, Emergency Action Plan, Emergency Evacuation Routes, and staff certifications.* Maintain adequate staffing (recruiting, training, hiring, and evaluating) of Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Water Exercise Instructors to deliver programs. Identify Deck Supervisor and Aquatics Coordinator candidates.* Conduct in-service training as required by the YMCA association.* Develop, implement, track, and control the department's budget in accordance with the YMCA branch and association budget guidelines.* Review program schedules, capacity staffing, and revenue to meet community needs and the YMCA mission.* Collaborate and build relationships within the YMCA branch, YMCA association, and community organizations in accordance with strategic and operating plans.* Maintain positive relationships with participants, parents/guardians, members, and staff. Covers shifts when staff are absent or additional staff is required.\nResponsible for ensuring maintaining ideal pool water chemical balance and cleanliness in all aquatic facilities including deck and locker room areas. Responsible for backwashing, mechanical systems and vacuuming pool.\nResponsible for all aquatic rentals and staffing aquatic special events including, but, not limited to swim meets, birthday parties, SCUBA and baptisms.\nManagement and Leadership\nResponsible for the development and implementation of the department budget. Authorizes department expenditures within allotted budget; provides budget reports in a timely manner including budget preparation and monthly income/expense controls and justifications.\nSupervise and manage all branch aquatic programs.\nMaintain a high quality of standards, adhering to or surpassing the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge aquatic standards.\nResponsible for the operations of the aquatic department: train, schedule, supervise and evaluate all aquatic staff ensuring all aquatic and safety policies are followed and required certifications are up to date.\nPromote, administer, and lead in the development and implementation of programs for special populations and services.\nDevelop and implement program of certification, training and in-service for all staff in assigned area. Report directly to the Branch Executive and keeps him or her informed of plans, progress, and problems. The Aquatics Director is responsible for the supervision of all aquatic staff. Ability to work a varied schedule, which will include evenings and weekends.\nKnowledge/Skills/Abilities\nA High school degree or its equivalent with a bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of 2 years of Aquatics experience necessary. Project management, time management and multi-tasking skills necessary. Proficiency in computer skills with Microsoft office preferred. Previous experience in water safety, swim lesson, and pool management operation is essential. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary. Prior experience supervising or leading others is desired. Must have current YMCA/Red Cross/Ellis Lifeguard certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and First Aid certification.\nSwim Instructor, Water Fitness, Swim Team and Oxygen Administration (O2) certifications desired.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to sit or stand for long periods of time, and use a computer, telephone and related business equipment are necessary to this position. Must be able to communicate effectively with others. Must be able to be in the water and/or on the pool deck for extended periods of time and remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
