This position requires 4 days per week at our Brookfield, WI location.
The Credit Team Lead is a player–coach role for an experienced credit professional who enjoys leading, developing talent, and tackling complex underwriting. This position combines hands‑on credit work with people leadership, offering the opportunity to shape the next generation of analysts while maintaining deep technical expertise.
CORE OBJECTIVES
Lead & develop talent:
Supervise a staff in the conventional credit department, ensuring effective management of a team of 2-6 credit professionals with varying levels of experience. Take personal responsibility for their professional development and career progression. Underwrite complex credits:
Serve as a senior underwriter on new money and renewal requests, focusing on more sophisticated relationships while demonstrating strong, independent credit judgment. Coach through the work:
Review credit presentations for quality and accuracy, provide timely feedback, and reinforce best practices in analysis and risk assessment. Build best‑in‑class training:
Develop and coordinate comprehensive training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and capabilities of credit analysts. This includes organizing sessions that challenge and foster professional growth, as well as facilitating cross‑departmental training to provide credit analysts with a holistic understanding of the Bank's operations and functions. Ensure policy discipline:
Maintain a deep working knowledge of loan policy and clearly communicate credit rationale and policy interpretation to partners across the bank. Partner with leadership:
Collaborate with senior credit management on projects and initiatives that improve efficiency, portfolio quality, and overall credit soundness. Grow as a leader:
May include lending authority based on experience and demonstrated capability. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business or 5 years banking experience. A minimum of 5 years credit underwriting of loan renewals and new money requests of increasing complexity and credit structure required. Prior experience reviewing peer credit presentations and providing constructive feedback, preferred. Indirect or direct leadership responsibilities related to coaching or training incoming Credit Analysts preferred. Ability to prioritize workflow to meet numerous levels of deadlines. Demonstrated rapid adaptability to changes in technology. Interest in allocating work, assigning tasks and providing training and guidance.
