Position Overview
The Development & Communications Intern will support fundraising, donor engagement, and storytelling efforts that amplify the impact of Familias en Acción’s work. This role is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in nonprofit development, communications, community health, or social justice. The intern will gain hands‑on experience in fundraising strategy, content creation, and mission‑driven communications. Key Responsibilities
Assist with donor communications, including thank‑you letters, email updates, and appeals Support planning and preparation for fundraising campaigns and events Conduct prospect research and help maintain donor and contact databases Help track fundraising metrics and organize development materials Communications & Storytelling
Draft and edit content for newsletters, social media, and the organization’s website Support storytelling efforts that center community voices and program impact Assist with creating simple graphics or visuals (using tools like Canva, if applicable) Help maintain a consistent, culturally grounded brand voice across platforms General Support
Collaborate with staff on special projects and community initiatives Participate in team meetings and organizational learning opportunities Desired Qualifications
Interest in nonprofit work, community health, fundraising, and/or communications Strong written communication skills; bilingual Spanish/English a plus (but not required) Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks Commitment to equity, cultural humility, and working with Latiné communities Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant program (communications, public health, social work, nonprofit management, marketing, etc.) What You’ll Gain
