Job Highlights Note: Bilingual applicants will be required to pass a Spanish assessment. Employees with bilingual responsibilities receive a 5% pay increase.

Support internal and external customers through education and efficient service delivery as an Intake and Triaging Specialist (Program Specialist 2) for the Employment Standards program.

Responsibilities

Oversee intake, initial screening, submission, and assignment of worker complaints.

Ensure intake and triage processes align with program procedures, policies, and legal requirements.

Serve as a subject matter expert on intake policies and procedures, providing guidance to internal and external partners.

Provide technical assistance to workers, employers, and the public regarding employment rights and complaint options.

Interpret and apply employment standards laws, rules, and policies to assess jurisdiction and ensure proper intake and processing of complaints.

Determine jurisdiction, apply program laws and policies to complete initial case activities for wage complaints and resolve non-wage, non-actionable, and non-jurisdictional complaints.

Conduct outreach, education, and training to the public about program services, complaint filing options, and updates to Employment Standards laws and rules.

Qualifications Required: A combined total of four years of education and/or experience.

A Bachelor’s Degree (four years).

An Associate’s degree (two years) plus two years of qualifying experience.

4 years of qualifying experience.

Qualifying experience includes:

Experience as a Customer Service Specialist, Industrial Relations Agent, or Program Specialist.

Explanation, interpretation, understanding, and enforcement of RCW and WAC regulations.

Investigating complaints of misconduct.

Collection of revenue/taxes from employers/businesses and audit of employer financial records.

Other required abilities:

Ability to learn and grow.

Ability to meet the needs of others.

Fluency in Spanish and English (verbal and written assessment).

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of labor relations laws, wage and hour laws, and contract administration.

Ability to apply knowledge to mediation, arbitration, and investigations.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Experience with data analysis, training, and project coordination.

Proficiency in CATS, LINIIS, Outlook, Teams, Zoom, Excel, Word, Adobe PDF.

Supplemental Information Telework is available part‑time statewide. Users may set a custom work schedule. The position does not qualify for King County premium pay.
