Overview
Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort and Mineral Springs in Calistoga is seeking a Sales/Catering & Experience Manager to join our team. The primary role is to generate revenue through direct sales activities within group, catering, and business travel market segments. This is an on-site, exempt position that reports to the General Manager. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. Responsibilities
Develop and implement successful group sales solicitation activities to secure new and repeat business from target market segments, with a focus on wedding parties and events. Lead by example in exceeding our client acquisition, revenue, and market share goals. Cultivate and activate key sales strategies, tactics and action plans required to achieve the hotel’s financial targets. Prepare tailored proposals and contracts that benefit both the hotel and the client. Support and inform the operations team in the execution of group related events, acting as the liaison between Marketing and Operations on property. Communicate the direction and purpose of initiatives to all stakeholders to eliminate silos and reinforce collaborative execution of goals. Stay informed on market trends, segment behavior, and other data; present data, strategies, and results to senior leadership and ownership. Create and distribute BEOs and group resumes, and lead meetings to review group resumes and BEOs. Prepare Sightline monthly group pace report and articulate weekly STS group pace results and prospect pipeline on owners calls and in-person meetings. Collaborate with VP of Sales & Corporate Marketing Team to generate reports, presentation slides, and on-property events. Assist with photo shoot setup and execution. Establish local partnerships with wineries and local vendors aligned with the hotel brand to enhance the guest experience. Input in development of events vision and strategy spanning all business units to create value for guests and clients. Seek out local hotel community and tourism industry partners to stay current on market happenings impacting hotel supply and demand. Champion employee engagement and promote a collaborative and inclusive environment where all employees are encouraged to speak up. Collaborate with shared services partners to maximize performance and engage with company-wide initiatives. Champion the hotel’s values, vision, and culture. What We’re Looking For
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in sales positions in hospitality; basic knowledge of food and beverage as it relates to catering and social events is preferred. Experience working with independent hotels. Basic understanding of operations of all hotel departments and their role in group business. Track record of production in group sales and achieving superior sales and revenue results; able to articulate underlying strategies. Professional selling skills: opening, probing, supporting, closing. Ability to train and monitor the process of sending referrals, setting traces, and profiling accounts. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Strong financial acumen, administrative and management skills, and demonstrated ability to lead. A passion for hospitality and the ability to connect with colleagues and guests. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Ability to use tools of the trade: computers, Hospitality CRM (Salesforce), databases, property management systems, and industry BI tools. Willingness to roll up sleeves and deliver results.
