The Position:

FGS Global is seeking a Director or Managing Director, Digital Strategy to play a pivotal role in advancing the firm’s digital capabilities as part of FGS’s AI + Innovation team. Our AI + I unit brings together 200+ digital strategists, designers, developers, and campaigners across three interoperable teams to deliver AI-powered stakeholder strategy. Our Decision Intelligence + Digital Engagement team specializes in turning insights from research, social listening, and media analytics into strategic cross‑channel activation. The AI Advisory practice provides clients with counsel to optimize and leverage necessary AI‑driven communications workflows to maximize their impact and efficiency. FGS Labs serves as our innovation engine, building bespoke AI solutions that give clients a decisive edge in the stakeholder economy while also leading the development of Fergus, FGS's AI‑powered digital exoskeleton.

Utilizing their expertise in social media, content development, crisis response, and emerging technologies, the Director/MD will be responsible for developing and executing integrated digital strategies, managing cross‑functional projects, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a trusted advisor to both internal stakeholders and clients. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment and brings a proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset to every challenge.

This is a hybrid role based in our New York office, with an expectation of at least four days per week onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive social media strategies tailored to a diverse range of clients, including corporations, nonprofits, educational institutions, financial organizations, and individuals.
  • Apply deep expertise in social media platforms to assess client needs and deliver innovative, platform‑specific solutions.
  • Monitor digital conversations using social listening tools for crisis situations, then develop and execute crisis response strategies.
  • Design and implement integrated social and content strategies that align with broader communications objectives.
  • Leverage artificial intelligence to enhance digital strategy, including content creation, audience targeting, and performance optimization.
  • Build and elevate an influencer/creator platform to help advocate for clients.
  • Oversee digital and AI‑driven reputation management initiatives to protect and elevate client profiles.
  • Evaluate and optimize websites from both content and technical perspectives to improve user experience and strategic impact.
  • Develop and execute paid digital promotion campaigns, ensuring alignment with strategic communications objectives.
  • Lead cross‑functional projects from ideation through execution, managing timelines, deliverables, and junior team members.
  • Provide mentorship and quality assurance by reviewing and refining work produced by junior staff.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders through clear, compelling written and verbal communication.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of work experience in relevant digital content programs and social media management.
  • 3+ years working in an agency environment across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Experience working across the influencer and creator economy with experience in influencer discovery, engagement and activations, especially across B2B stakeholder audiences reaching regulators, opinion elites, policy makers and investors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace under tight deadlines in collaboration with team members.
  • Go‑getter attitude and strong sense of initiative to take the lead on projects and learn new skills.
  • General knowledge of financial communication practices and corporate finance.
  • Experience working on digital projects for financial transactions such as M&A, investor relations, IPOs, or proxy defense.
  • Working knowledge of other digital marketing areas such as paid promotion, digital reputation management, and search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Comfort and track record in rapid response and/or crisis scenarios.

This position requires the availability to work outside of normal office hours, including nights and weekends, when business needs arise. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and not require work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.

New York City Salary Range

$150,000 - $200,000 USD
