Golf Course Attendant
Accountable for the various functions relating to the daily function of the golf course, pace of play, and guest experience. Uses knowledge of golf, the course, and the rules to monitor golfers and provide a safe, fun golfing experience. This position will be cross trained to cover the golf shop duties when necessary and coordinates functions relating to cash management and golf shop operations in accordance with established University policies. Monitors the course to maintain pace of place, enforce the course rules, and provide assistance to guests on the course where necessary. Stays up to date on course rules and policies. Handles all interactions with guests in a positive, diplomatic manner, even when the guest is breaking the rules. Help maintain the course as it relates to guest experience. Pick up balls and litter while on the course. Maintain a tidy lost and found. Rake sand traps, repair divots, and look for any areas where a quick improvement can be made. Maintains the safety of the course and responds to urgent matters as the need arises. Informs course attendant and management of course conditions and other notable occurrences that affect guest experience and safety. Knows who is on the course at all times. Collaborate with campus security to resolve issues as needed and to prevent future issues and conflicts wherever possible. Documents complaints, incidents, and injuries when needed. Carry out starter tasks on first tee during busy times and when tee times are in place. Enforce group size rules and know when it's appropriate to combine groups. Offer helpful advice and insight into courses to new visitors at the first tee and when on the course. Assists golf course attendant with shop operations and maintenance as needed. Work includes general interior and exterior maintenance activities to the golf shop including but not limited to: sweeping, vacuuming, restocking. Carry out sales and preparation of golf carts for rental to customers when attendant is unavailable. Aid attendant at end of night with closing tasks including bringing trash bags in from the course, pulling practice flags, and other tasks as needed. Physically able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. While performing required job tasks, physically able to bend, crouch and reach continuously. Can safely walk uneven terrain and stand for long periods The golf course is open from sunrise to sunset. May have to work diverse shift times including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Must be willing to work at least 1 weekend and at least 2 total shifts a week as needed **Golf Fees will not be waived if this requirement is not met**. Education: Golf Course/Golfing Experience Preferred Years of Experience: 1-2 years of golf related experience preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Has knowledge of golf or has the willingness to learn. Ability to handle keep customer information private and confidential. Comfortable working with computers and learning the sales software. Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers while fostering positive working relationships.
