Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Warden and Deputy Warden, this position plans, implements, and coordinates the security program at the Racine Youthful Offender Correctional Facility. This position is responsible for all activities within the Restrictive Housing Unit, with development, implementation, and monitoring of overall institution goals, policies, and procedures as part of the institution team. The security program for all areas of the institution is planned and coordinated. The position consults and makes recommendations to architects for new construction regarding security issues and assumes institution responsibility as directed by the Warden/Deputy Warden.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 81-02 with an annual salary of $67371 - $ , plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A 2-year Career Executive trial period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

Minimally Qualified Applicants Will Have Experience

  • Leadership or supervision of staff (interviewing, hiring, assigning/reviewing work, conducting performance evaluations, etc).
  • Directing, implementing, and evaluating security standards.
  • Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team in a correctional setting.

Additional Qualifications

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring policies and procedures for a 24/7 operation.
