The Compliance Specialist is responsible for monitoring and evaluating customer orders for controlled substances through the company's Suspicious Order Monitoring (SOM) program. This role includes analyzing purchasing activity, identifying potential red flags, and determining appropriate actions, including order release or escalation for further review. The position also performs comprehensive "Know Your Customer" (KYC) due diligence for new and existing customers to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. The Compliance Specialist plays a key role in supporting regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and audit readiness. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and evaluate customer purchasing activity through the Suspicious Order Monitoring (SOM) program Review, analyze, and respond to incoming controlled substance orders in a timely and compliant manner Identify, investigate, and document potential suspicious orders, including evaluating ordering patterns and trends Determine appropriate course of action, including releasing orders or escalating for management review Conduct comprehensive due diligence reviews ("Know Your Customer") for both new and existing customers Verify and maintain customer licensing and regulatory documentation to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements Communicate professionally and effectively with customers via phone and email regarding compliance inquiries and documentation needs Maintain accurate and organized electronic records, including case files, reports, and correspondence Analyze data and generate reports to support compliance monitoring and decision-making Stay current on industry regulations, trends, and best practices related to controlled substance monitoring and distribution Support audits, internal reviews, and regulatory inquiries as needed Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Compliance Manager Qualifications: Strong proficiency in computer systems and software applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex data and identify trends Highly organized with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
