Sonoco’s Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) is a pathway to becoming a future business leader with hands-on experience, leadership development, and coaching over 24 months.

ELP offers full-time positions designed for recent college graduates that go beyond a traditional first job. Associates gain practical experience, leadership development, and cross-company connections while working across Sonoco’s diverse portfolio of businesses.

Program structure and objectives

Your time in the ELP will cover core objectives (not limited to):

  • Technical Skills Training - Safety, Quality, Scheduling, Customer satisfaction
  • Leadership Training - Supervisory skills, Performance Management, Mentorship
  • Business Insights - Accountability, Execution, Risk Taking, Budgeting
  • Culture Integration - Communication, Collaboration and Innovation

Responsibilities and expectations

With access to our diverse portfolio, ELP associates are empowered to shape their careers, contribute to Sonoco’s culture, and deliver meaningful impact from day one, growing into well-rounded, value-driven leaders of tomorrow. The program is designed for individuals who can:

  • Have or will obtain a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering, Sciences, Technology or Business by December 2025 or May 2026
  • Demonstrate prior internship experience (preferably in Manufacturing or a functional area)
  • Show proven leadership experience
  • Desire to work in a Manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrate technical aptitude
  • Possess strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

All ELP Associates must be open to relocation (immediately or in the future) and be willing to work rotating or late shifts.
