Position Summary
The ASC Director is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, regulatory compliance, and strategic direction of the Advanced Spine & Pain Ambulatory Surgery Center in Gilbert, Arizona. This role ensures safe, high‑quality surgical care, efficient workflow, staff development, and an exceptional patient experience in accordance with AZDHS, QUAD A, CMS, and internal organizational standards.
The Director serves as the primary on‑site leader, collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to maintain an environment of clinical excellence, financial stewardship, and continuous quality improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Operations Management
Provide day‑to‑day oversight of ASC operations, including pre‑op, intra‑op, PACU, sterile processing, and patient flow. Ensure safe staffing models and efficient room turnover. Lead morning huddles, safety briefings, and daily operational direction. Support case scheduling, resource allocation, and readiness for all procedures. Maintain full survey readiness and compliance with all regulatory bodies. - Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
Ensure adherence to:- Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS)

- OSHA, CDC, AORN, and ASPAN guidelines
- Clinical Collaboration
Partner closely with the Charge Nurse, Director of Nursing, or Clinical Leader (if applicable) to ensure:- Evidence‑based perioperative practices

- Financial & Business Operations
Manage the ASC budget, productivity, supply chain, cost controls, and forecasting. Monitor and report on KPIs (case volume, on‑time starts, cancellations, turnover times, and patient safety metrics). Collaborate with revenue cycle on chart completeness, documentation accuracy, and coding/billing workflows. Identify growth opportunities and operational improvements to enhance financial performance. - Staff Management & Development
Recruit, hire, onboard, and coach ASC staff. Conduct performance reviews, address skill gaps, and support ongoing professional development. Develop staffing models that align with volume, acuity, and efficiency needs. Foster a culture of accountability, clinical excellence, teamwork, and respect. - Patient Experience & Safety
Oversee patient communication, satisfaction, and service recovery processes. Review patient feedback and incident trends, implementing improvements where needed. Lead QAPI projects, safety initiatives, and performance improvement activities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, or related field. RN license not required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of leadership experience in an ASC, surgical services, perioperative operations, or healthcare practice management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASC regulations (AZDHS, QUAD A/AAAASF, CMS).
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to manage operations, budgets, scheduling, and performance metrics.
Preferred
- Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, MSN, or related).
- Experience in spine, pain management, or orthopedic ambulatory surgery.
- CASC certification or pursuit of certification.
- Experience leading in a multi‑site or rapidly expanding healthcare organization.
