Job Summary And Qualifications
The Director Contracts is responsible for negotiating industry leading national agreements for HCA focused on the Lab Services, Equipment and Expense. The objective is to ensure best in class industry pricing and contract terms and conditions. Position's key area of focus will be sourcing initiatives for HCA Lab Services. Position may have some responsibility for other categories for development and workload allocation. The individual must possess knowledge or prior experience in principles and concepts related to sourcing and contract management.
What you will do in this role:
Project Management
- Ability to plan and execute project timelines for assigned categories, with guidance from manager.
Must have:
- Demonstrated level of organizational ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to translate objectives into project planning priorities, create and manage work plans and timelines for multiple projects and priorities, and finalize negotiations within the designated timeframe.
- Ability to be highly efficient and productive without sacrificing quality.
Category Knowledge
- Understanding or aptitude to learn the product categories assigned and how end-users interface with the products.
- Understanding or demonstrated ability to learn in-depth aspects of portfolio: product features and benefits; product comparisons between supplier offerings; operational impact to provider; interpretation and use of market information provided by global sourcing team; future product pipeline and impact on market.
Supplier Knowledge
- Individual must be able to develop and use knowledge about suppliers to develop strategies, create leverage, mitigate risks, anticipate direction of the market and potential supplier direction, including discussing future product pipelines with suppliers, reviewing current or future technology, and investigating new supplier entrants to market.
Strategy Development, Validation, and Risk Mitigation
- Individual will develop the strategy with guidance from manager and collaboration with HCA Lab Services.
- Individual will seek guidance on risk issues and agreed upon risk mitigation strategies; develop the strategy, identify risks, and create a risk mitigation plan and present to manager for approval.
Sourcing Process
- Thorough understanding and accountability for the sourcing process for assigned portfolio, including market research, bid preparation, RFI, strategy development & validation, RFP, contract negotiations, and contract launch.
Supplier and Customer Relationship Management
- Oversee supplier relationship during the sourcing process, participate in supplier business reviews and review new products/technologies as they arise.
- Build strong relationships with senior-level supplier contacts.
Customer
- Build strong customer relationships through frequent interaction at all levels, including executive.
- Effective and efficient communication with internal stakeholders and suppliers, limited communication to customers, facilitate conversations with internal functional teams to gather feedback, opinions and alignment of resource needs, communicate bid process, negotiation status, agreement on terms, financial proposal concerns, other matters with supplier and internal team, engage customers through one-on-one conversations to articulate business strategy and resolve customer-specific issues or concerns.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with HCA Lab Services corporate, group and division leadership.
- Collaborate with legal staff on development and finalization of contract.
- Collaborate with financial analysts on assessing supplier proposals.
- Collaborate with contract analysts on product/price loading of awarded agreements.
- Collaborate with communications on contract launch/implementation.
What qualifications you will need:
- Accredited College Bachelor's Degree required (Supply Chain, Healthcare, Business, Finance).
- 7+ years of relevant work experience preferred; ideal candidate will have experience in strategic sourcing and negotiating a variety of contracts in the Lab category.
