Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy Operational Excellence tools, standards, and systems such as Kaizens, Value Stream Maps, Visual Management Systems, Lean Leadership and other key lean tools.
- Grow the Operations Excellence maturity level in the organization.
- Work with the Network CI team to develop and improve Operational Excellence standards and best practices.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to other members of the site management and OpEx teams.
- Analyze and identify process improvement opportunities and partner with key stakeholders to scope and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Evaluate and establish processes and systems with the goal of improving product quality, throughput/capacity, reduce costs, and/or reduce lead‑time and cycle times.
- Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow, headcount and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of worker and equipment.
- Design and facilitate kaizens/workshops to understand current processes, conduct root cause analysis investigation, design future state and develop change plans.
- Conduct Gemba style process documentation and diagnostic activities.
- Work across all levels, from business leaders to front‑line staff, to identify business impacts and support the development of change plans.
- Direct multidisciplinary project teams to ensure delivery of the project on time, on budget and to pre‑defined quality level. Prepare project schedules, coordinate the execution of technical projects and develop presentations to disseminate progress, risks and status to project stakeholders and senior management.
- Act as a strategic member of the site Operational Leadership Team, modeling desired OpEx mindsets and behaviors while challenging the team to improve ways of work.
- Drive changes across the organization.
- Drive a performance management culture by developing and deploying tools and techniques that mobilize and develop individuals at all levels, encouraging cross‑team collaboration to achieve positive results for the organization.
- Increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization’s performance across all Site functions through fostering cross‑functional relationships, decreasing redundant work, and development of continuous improvement strategies.
- Assist with development and implementation of operational excellence roadmaps to drive continuous improvement and value flow.
- Champion the strategic direction and transformation of Continuous Improvement by simplifying, standardizing, and integrating improvement programs.
- Lead and facilitate all aspects of change and continuous improvement initiatives, as well as, assist in the coordination of corporate strategic goals measurement and management (strategic scorecard development).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Passion for excellence
- Ability to work in a Manufacturing environment with well‑rounded experience executing and leading projects on continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence
- Must be skilled in strategic thinking, managing through systems, innovation management, and negotiation
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as related to Pharmaceutical and Biotech Manufacturing
- Clear demonstration of the ability to lead through influence, effectively drive performance, build alignment, inform, negotiate and collaborate with various stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to always communicate positively and effectively in a variety of complex circumstances. Must have experience delivering complex messages to various internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, strategic capabilities, and ability to work effectively in complex, rapidly changing environments
- Ability to challenge the status quo to evolve business in more efficient and effective manner
- Deep experience in engaging and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to quickly assess a complex scenario and utilize common scenario planning tools and techniques to offer project teams and management viable alternatives
- Must possess strong verbal and communication skills, and a well‑developed ability to constructively work across functional areas and levels to achieve results
- Proficiency in developing presentations to facilitate meaningful discussions, with clearly communicated analysis, findings, and impact
- A self‑starter who can work independently
Minimum Requirements
- Required Bachelor's Degree of Engineering or Science
- Required minimum 10 years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Required minimum 8 years in Operational Excellence
- Master’s degree and/or MBA – preferred
- LSSGB or LSSBB certification – preferred
Working Conditions
- This position requires up to 10% of travel.
Compensation Overview
Devens – MA – US: $179,250 – $217,206
The starting compensation range(s) for this role are listed above for a full‑time employee (FTE) basis. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job‑related knowledge, and experience. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.

Paid Time Off
- US Exempt Employees: flexible time off (unlimited, with manager approval, 11 paid national holidays – not applicable to employees in Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico or Rayzebio employees)
- Phoenix, AZ, Puerto Rico and Rayzebio Exempt, Non‑Exempt, Hourly Employees: 160 hours annual paid vacation for new hires with manager approval, 11 national holidays and 3 optional holidays.
Based on eligibility*, additional time off for employees may include unlimited paid sick time, up to 2 paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, and military needs and an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas and New Years Day.
All global employees full and part‑time who are actively employed at and paid directly by BMS at the end of the calendar year are eligible to take advantage of the Global Shutdown.
