The Boston office continues to expand its Financial Services practice and is seeking a senior-level Audit Director to support and grow its alternative investment client base.

Position Overview

The Financial Services Audit Director will serve as a senior leader within the Boston audit practice, focused on private equity funds, hedge funds, and fund of funds (FoF).

This individual will oversee complex engagements, mentor high-performing teams, and help drive strategic growth within the Financial Services vertical.

This role offers a clear runway to Partner for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Private Equity Funds
  • Hedge Funds
  • Fund of Funds (FoF)
  • Investment Advisors & Management Companies
  • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of financial statement audits
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards
  • Review complex investment valuations and fund structures
  • Serve as primary client relationship leader
  • Mentor and develop Managers and Senior Associates
  • Participate in business development and market expansion initiatives
  • Collaborate with tax and advisory teams to deliver integrated solutions

Technical Experience

Strong experience auditing alternative investment structures, including:

  • Private Equity (closed‑end funds, portfolio company structures)
  • Fund of Funds
  • ASC 946
  • Carried interest and waterfall allocations
  • Management company financials

Qualifications

  • Active CPA required
  • 10+ years of public accounting experience
  • Progressive leadership within a Financial Services audit practice
  • Demonstrated experience managing large, complex fund engagements
  • Strong client‑facing and business development skills
  • Experience supervising and developing teams
