Director of Operations
The Director of Operations will be responsible for leading and optimizing all aspects of operations across machining and complex assembly programs. This role will enhance business productivity, materials management, facilities, employee health & safety, and process improvement to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute operations strategy aligned with company growth objectives, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Partner with executive leadership to shape long-term business plans, capacity investments, and operational capabilities.
- Champion a "People First, Mission Always" culture of continuous improvement, safety, quality, and accountability.
- Oversee daily operations of machining and assembly facilities to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Drive efficiency and cost competitiveness through Lean, Six Sigma, and advanced manufacturing practices.
- Reduce setup time and bring lessons learned in tooling and fixtures.
- Lead capacity planning, production scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ensure operational readiness to support new program introductions and ramp-ups.
- Engage in new awards at the start and meet commitments on all new programs.
- Drive lead time reduction on core business and products.
- Improve knowledge capture with standard work, standardized templates, and documentation for recurring tasks and best practices.
- Lead manufacturing modernization initiatives, including digital manufacturing, automation, and ERP/MES optimization.
- Continuously evaluate make/buy strategy and partnerships to ensure competitiveness and supply chain resilience.
- Implement best practices in EH&S, risk management, and operational governance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in aerospace & defense manufacturing.
- Proven track record leading machining and complex assembly operations, preferably in aerospace.
- Deep knowledge of AS9100, ITAR, and DOD/MIL requirements.
- Experience scaling production to support high-growth programs. Experience with acquisition integration preferred but not required.
- Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets, P&L responsibility, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Executive presence with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Change agent with the ability to drive cultural transformation and team engagement.
