Position Overview The Senior Piping Stress Engineer functions as a technical specialist and recognized authority in piping stress analysis and piping engineering. This role involves making high-level recommendations, resolving complex technical challenges, and serving as an advisor within the organization. The engineer contributes directly to project value through leadership, technical expertise, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities Piping Stress & Flexibility Analysis

Identify piping systems requiring analysis or review.

Conduct formal stress analyses per

ASME B31.1

and

ASME B31.3 , including pressure, thermal, and vibration evaluations.

Perform informal stress reviews using applicable code criteria.

Analyze vibration issues and support system behavior.

Evaluate specialty piping items such as spring cans, hoses, and expansion joints.

Engineering & Design Collaboration

Develop specifications in coordination with piping designers and process engineers.

Prepare RFQs and collaborate with procurement teams.

Review and evaluate vendor proposals for technical compliance.

Select standard and engineered pipe supports and communicate design requirements to piping designers.

Oversee development of engineered supports such as spring cans and snubbers.

Project Execution & Oversight

Participate in comprehensive piping reviews for isometrics, supports, and specialty components prior to construction release.

Prepare work-hour estimates for piping flexibility, supports, and specialty items at all project stages.

Ensure quality, budget, and schedule adherence for assigned piping engineering tasks.

Potentially lead engineering teams across multiple projects.

Coordinate work effectively in a multi-office environment.

Qualifications Required

Minimum

10 years

of piping engineering experience within chemical or industrial sectors

Junior-level candidates may also be considered with relevant experience.

Proficiency with pipe stress analysis and FEA tools

Caesar II

and

NozzlePRO

strongly preferred

Strong knowledge of

ASME B31.1

and

ASME B31.3

Experience navigating 3D models (e.g.,

Navisworks )

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Ability to travel and work at client sites as needed

Preferred

Experience with

AutoCAD

Professional Engineer (PE) license
