You’ll partner with premier sponsors and institutions to originate, underwrite, and close complex transactions that drive client outcomes and firm performance.

Job summary As a Vice President on the CMBS team within SPG, you will originate and underwrite commercial real estate loans across conduit, single asset/single borrower (SASB) securitizations, and balance sheet lending. You will lead due diligence, prepare credit materials, coordinate closings, and collaborate closely with securitization and capital markets teams while supporting ongoing asset management for balance sheet positions.

Job responsibilities

Develop and maintain client relationships, focusing on origination with financial sponsors, REITs, pension funds, high‑net‑worth individuals, and corporations in real estate development and ownership.

Prescreen opportunities prior to sizing, underwriting, and documentation.

Lead due diligence, including property and portfolio analysis, market research, review of third‑party reports (appraisals, property condition, environmental), and site inspections of prospective collateral.

Prepare and present credit memoranda for loan committees, rating agencies, and securitizations.

Oversee the loan closing process, including legal document review and coordination with internal and external parties.

Collaborate with securitization and capital markets teams on CMBS and balance sheet transactions.

Support asset management of balance sheet loans, including ongoing surveillance and quarterly reviews.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

5–7 years of relevant commercial real estate finance or CMBS experience, preferably in loan underwriting.

BA/BS degree in finance, economics, real estate, or a related discipline preferred.

Strong valuation, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Advanced Excel and cash flow modeling skills; proficiency in Argus.

Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Willingness to travel.
