Tax Manager / Director - Public Accounting Job Description:

Responsibilities

Perform technical tax reviews of complex tax returns.

Assume responsibility for assigned tax accounts, including personnel scheduling, compliance with due dates, and monitoring time budgets.

Initiate and complete tax research projects, with the ability to present findings in a clear, concise, and understandable written format.

Serve as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and audit staff on specific tax issues and related questions.

Prepare complex business tax returns.

Maintain responsibility for client service and relationships.

Manage time effectively, including handling multiple engagements and meeting deadlines.

Stay current on economic, political, and legislative developments that may impact the business environment.

Utilize tax software and tools including CCH Axcess Tax, Engagement, BNA Income Tax Planner, Bloomberg Law, Excel, and XCM.

Apply complex tax concepts to the preparation and review of tax returns (business, S Corp, C Corp, individual, gift, and trusts), including analysis of information and calculation of book-to-tax differences. Expatriate tax experience is a plus, along with knowledge of Non-Resident Alien and international taxation.

Supervise and lead a team of senior and staff-level Tax Associates.

Qualifications

Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting firm, with demonstrated stability.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA required.

Master's degree in Taxation is a plus.

Proficiency in corporate, fiduciary, high-net-worth individual, and partnership taxation.

Experience supervising and training staff and senior-level professionals.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Highly motivated with the ability to manage multiple client engagements.

Ability to build visibility and recognition within area of specialization.
