About The Role

Underwrites and prepares credit presentations for complex Commercial Real Estate (CRE) loans. Assists Relationship Managers (RMs) in monitoring a large loan portfolio of construction, bridge, and permanent loans. Collaborates with RMs to deepen banking relationships with sophisticated CRE developers and investors. Analyze appraisal and market data to assess market risk associated with the CRE project. Underwrite sponsors’ contingent debt, portfolio refinance risk, and global cash‑flow to assess ability to address financial obligations. Assess CRE credit markets to analyze potential take‑out financing. Identify key business and financial risks impacting repayment prospects and present conclusions supporting credit recommendation based on documented facts. Prepare timely, concise, and accurate credit recommendations, including quantitative underwriting narrative, risk rating scoring, identification of policy exceptions, and accurate loan/risk coding. Monitor borrower financial performance; oversee spreading, covenant calculations, and adherence to approval conditions. Collaborate with Analysts and RMs to ensure borrower notifications and approvals resolve violations timely. Identify and communicate credit risk to be mitigated in new and existing credits. Provide insights into customer financial needs and loan structure effectiveness using line‑of‑business‑approved tools. Participate in customer and prospect calls with RMs. May oversee work of other underwriters or analysts, reviewing credit requests and financial spreads. Demonstrate compliance with bank regulations, policies, and training. Maintain knowledge of regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, and Bank Security. Coach, mentor, train others, or teach coursework as subject‑matter expert. Actively learn, demonstrate, and foster Columbia corporate culture in all actions. 7‑10 years of commercial underwriting/credit analysis or relevant lending experience (Required). Skills

Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills. Advanced credit and credit quality skills: accounting, financial statement spreading, cash‑flow analysis. Time‑management skills to juggle multiple tasks and deliver high‑quality work on time. Effective teamwork across the company to manage internal and external customer relationships. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, and practices. Proficiency with personal computers and software such as Word and Excel. Travel Requirements

Occasional travel. Compensation

The pay range for this role is $89,000.00 to $160,000.00. The pay rate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, details of which will be provided during the recruitment process. Primary Location
