Position Summary Under general supervision and with latitude for independent judgment, this position designs, implements, and maintains enterprise Oracle database environments and asynchronous messaging architectures supporting University-wide, mission-critical systems. The role ensures database availability, performance, security, and reliable system-to-system data integration in accordance with institutional standards and policies.
Statement Of Duties And Responsibilities
Designs, implements, maintains, and supports enterprise Oracle database environments supporting University-wide, mission-critical systems, including Ellucian Banner Student Information System.
Administers and supports Banner Student database environments, including non-production and production instances, ensuring system availability, performance, data integrity, and compliance with institutional standards.
Develops, tests, and maintains Oracle database objects using SQL and PL/SQL in support of Banner Student and related enterprise systems.
Supports Banner Student upgrades and maintenance activities, including database readiness, backup validation, testing, and coordination with functional and technical teams.
Administers and supports asynchronous messaging using RabbitMQ and integration architectures used with Banner, including Banner APIs, Ethos APIs, BRIM API, CRM Advise API, Banner Event Publisher (BEP), and Ellucian Ethos Identity and Integration services, to ensure reliable system-to-system data exchange. Performs database monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting for Banner and related enterprise databases.
Implements and maintains database security controls in accordance with University and State policies, including user access management and data protection requirements.
Installs, configures, patches, and upgrades Oracle database environments supporting Banner Student and other enterprise systems.
Creates and maintains technical documentation for Banner database environments, integrations, configurations, and operational procedures.
Participates in on-call rotations and provides after-hours support for mission-critical Banner and enterprise database systems as required.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications Education:
Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university within the area of assigned responsibility.
Experience:
Three (3) years of professional experience administering Oracle database environments in an enterprise or mission-critical setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining database objects using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
Experience supporting or maintaining asynchronous messaging or system-to-system integration architectures.
Working knowledge of database performance tuning, security controls, and operational support.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Ellucian Banner Student System.
Experience using and maintaining the Ellucian Solutions Manager (ESM) tool.
Experience supporting Oracle Database 19c environments aligned with Banner Student upgrade requirements.
Experience with Ellucian Ethos Identity and Integration, Banner APIs, and Banner Event Publisher (BEP), BRIM API, CRM Advise API.
Experience working with asynchronous messaging platforms used with Banner integrations (e.g., RabbitMQ).
Experience supporting Linux-based and Java-based platforms used for Banner and integration services.
