Position Title: Benefits Specialist Hybrid – Kansas City, MO - 1 day in the office per week As a Benefits Specialist – HR Operations, you will play a key role in supporting employees and management in all aspects relating to enterprise benefits plans and employee leaves. Working alongside the Benefits, People Operations, and Engagement teams, you will help deliver a best-in-class employee experience by providing subject matter expertise and empathetic support. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Serving as an expert resource for enterprise employees and insurance carriers regarding a wide variety of benefits plans, including medical, dental, life, long-term disability, tax savings, retirement plans, and health savings accounts.

Responding to and managing complex benefit-related questions, problems, and cases received through multiple communication channels such as phone, email, and SLACK, often requiring direct engagement with providers, third-party administrators, and management.

Supporting and managing employee leaves across the enterprise, including FMLA and other leave types—overseeing the leave process, responding to inquiries, and collaborating with management to resolve any challenges that arise.

Assisting with open enrollment activities and facilitating effective employee communications to ensure understanding and participation in benefits programs.

Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with both internal teams and external vendors, ensuring smooth administration and consistent application of benefits policies and procedures.

Partnering with Benefits and People Operations teams on ongoing projects and process improvements.

5-8 years of hands‑on experience in employee benefits administration, preferably within a large, enterprise environment.

Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and empathetically with employees at all levels, including executives, as well as with external providers and carriers.

Strong organization and time‑management skills; able to efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

Outstanding customer service orientation with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Proficient in analyzing and resolving complex benefit inquiries and operational issues.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Experience with Workday HRIS is a plus.

Relevant benefit certifications (e.g., CEBS, CBP, PHR, SHRM-CP) are an advantage.

Previous experience in benefits management is highly valued.
