Hourly Rate

$17.25

Summary

Assists server in providing friendly and professional service to our members and guests. Promotes and follows LJBTC, Inc.’s Signature Service standards and requirements ensuring a lasting impression of exemplary service resulting in supremely satisfied and loyal members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collect reusable items or waste materials such as table service, paper and left‑over food stuffs; separate and dispose of waste in proper containers; move reusable materials to kitchen or storage.

Inspect materials and sort items into piles at the dish‑cleaning area or linen collection area; place in containers according to type, size, condition, color, marking, or other characteristics.

Set tables as required.

Provide drinking water and frequently refurbish beverages upon guest or server requests.

Anticipate guest needs and provide genuinely friendly, attentive, professional service.

Maintain all service and restaurant areas as required.

Complete assigned "side work" duties (preparation/set‑up and closing prerequisites).

Provide room service—prompt thorough service to hotel guests and pick up trays.

Assist servers in attending to guests’ needs and expectations.

Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.

Other duties may be assigned.

Outcome

This position impacts the guest’s overall impression of the restaurant and the quality of the dining experience. The support aspect of the busser position helps enable other members of the Dining Room Team to focus on guest needs and expectations.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience

Less than high school education; or up to one‑month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must have the ability to communicate with customers fluently in English.

Mathematical Skills

Basic arithmetic with two‑digit numbers, multiplies and divides with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to use units of American money, weight, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must obtain and maintain a current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification.

Physical Demands

The employee is required to stand for extended periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk, see, or hear; reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste or smell. Employees must lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, often 25 lbs (including heavy food trays), and occasionally 50 lbs. Vision adjustments and safe operation around moving mechanical parts and chemical hazards are required.

Working Conditions

Noise level is generally moderate to loud; pace is moderate to quite fast. Exposure to wet, humid conditions, fumes, chemicals, and risks of electrical shock, burns, and lacerations. Employees must follow safety procedures and report hazards.

Interaction

Daily interaction with managers, supervisors, service and kitchen personnel, and customers. Periodic interaction with purchasing and other department personnel.

Scheduling

The company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Shifts are usually rotated to maintain fairness. Business needs determine the number of hours worked.
