Duties Description
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Assist in the review of drawings, specifications, and contract documents to retrieve data for the construction materials and procedures of construction projects.
Inspect on-site construction materials used by contractors for small or single trade construction projects.
Assist in the inspection of a portion of large State building construction projects to assure contractor adherence to specifications, contracts, and work standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Operational Needs
Travel is required (approximately 50%).
Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.
Note
This position does not offer telecommuting.
Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience* assisting in the management of the building construction phase for construction projects from the inception to completion. This experience must be in one or more of the following areas: cost estimating, construction planning and scheduling; contract document reading and interpretation, including agreement and conditions, plans and specifications; and/or construction inspection to ensure compliance with building codes for construction projects.
OR
An associate’s degree in engineering, engineering management, engineering science, engineering technology, architecture, architecture technology, landscape architecture, construction technology, or construction management.
NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
