Technical Designer – Themed Entertainment

Position Overview We are seeking a Technical Designer with a strong focus in themed entertainment to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of design, engineering, and fabrication—turning creative concepts into buildable, real-world environments.
You will play a critical role in translating artistic vision into detailed technical drawings and fabrication-ready documentation, supporting projects from concept through installation.
What You’ll Do Themed Entertainment Design Focus
Develop technical drawing packages for immersive environments, scenic elements, and themed attractions
Interpret concept art and design intent into practical, buildable solutions
Collaborate closely with creative designers to maintain artistic integrity while ensuring feasibility
Technical Development
Produce detailed CAD models, shop drawings, and fabrication documents
Create construction details for scenic builds including millwork, metal fabrication, and specialty finishes
Ensure all designs meet structural, safety, and production requirements
Fabrication & Production Support
Work directly with fabrication teams to support builds and troubleshoot challenges
Participate in design reviews, redlines, and value engineering efforts
Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors on specialty elements
Partner with project managers, production leads, and clients throughout the lifecycle of a project
Support estimating by contributing technical insight into materials, methods, and labor
Maintain clear documentation and communication across departments
What We’re Looking For Experience
3–7+ years in technical design, preferably in themed entertainment, scenic fabrication, or experiential environments
Experience working on attractions, exhibits, stage sets, or immersive installations
Technical Skills
Proficiency in CAD software (Fusion, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
Strong understanding of fabrication methods (wood, metal, plastics, composites)
Knowledge of scenic construction techniques, finishes, and materials
Mindset
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to balance creative intent with technical constraints
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
