A fast-growing, nationally recognized CPA firm is seeking an experienced Hybrid Tax Manager (CPA/EA) to lead tax preparation, review, and strategic advisory services for a diverse portfolio of business and individual clients. This is a full-time, W2 position with a clear path for advancement, including future equity ownership opportunities for high performers.
Job Description
Interface directly with clients without partner involvement
Schedule and oversee fieldwork and preparation of compilation and review financial statement engagements
Review tax returns and financial statements to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to firm standards
Prepare complex business and individual tax returns and provide tax planning independently
Review financial statement reports, including footnotes, ensuring they are ready for partner signature
Perform a broad range of accounting tasks, minimizing direct partner involvement
Conduct technical tax reviews and approve all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity
Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns, tax research, and delegate tasks to tax preparers as needed
Act as a resource for tax preparers and staff on specific tax issues and questions
Communicate important tax and tax-related developments to relevant firm personnelDelegate and manage governmental tax examinations and may represent clients before appropriate tax authorities
Train and develop staff through recruiting, performance evaluations, developing training aids, and instructing professional development programs
Maintain a complete knowledge of the firm's philosophy and positions on tax matters
Stay current on general economic and political trends and legislation that may affect clients
Participate in the firm's practice development efforts through involvement with referral sources, community, and industry activities
Sign and issue select tax returns
Requirements
Degree in Accounting from an accredited university; Master’s degree in Taxation preferred
Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrating progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research
Minimum of 40 hours of continuing education annually to maintain technical and business skills and meet licensing requirements
Active CPA or EA license in good standing (REQUIRED)Member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA)
